May 22nd
(Tues.): FLY DAY ONLY TO PORTLAND, MAINE
Hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express in Portland, Maine. (207)
775-3900 Continental Breakfast and Free Shuttle Service from the Portland
Airport. A Get-Acquainted meeting will be held that evening.
May 23rd
(Wed.): Depart Portland and travel North, (lose one hour) crossing into
Canada to Fredericton, New Brunswick to participate in Permanent Trail PT128
(In
Canada, year round events are called permanent trails.) The
route takes you across the Saint John River to the North Riverfront Trail, Carleton
Park, with a view of Fredericton. Our hotel is the Start/Finish for the walk,
Crowne Plaza Lord Beaverbrook Hotel, (506) 455-3371. Full Breakfast Buffet
included.
May 24th
(Thur.): Depart hotel with a stop in Sackville, New Brunswick for a scheduled
traditional walk event. Continue our journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia for 4
glorious nights at the Atlantica Hotel, the host hotel for the Canadian
Convention. (902) 423-1161 Deluxe Continental Breakfast Buffet included.

Canadian Convention walks and socials are not included in the
tour price.

May 25th (Fri.): This day will offer for you 2
possible Permanent Trail Walks that start right from our hotel. (Pay on your
own for I did not know what people wanted to do.)
Do at your convenience ......... One event will take you
past two Universities, the harbor front boardwalk and residential/commercial
locations. The other event will take you to the magnificent Point Pleasant
Park. Maybe take a tour along the Harbor area. Meet and Mingle Social that
evening for those that registered.
May 26th (Sat.): Participate in the CVF
President’s Walk! Lots of Sightseeing to do in the afternoon. (How about a
visit to The Citadel or a Harbor cruise) That evening
is the Banquet for those that registered.
May 27th (Sun.): Participate in the Convention
Walk from the hotel. If you so desire, the bus in the afternoon will drive
across the bridge to the Dartmouth side to participate in a guided walk on the
outstanding Salt Marsh Trail. Return to our hotel and start thinking about
packing those suitcases for our departure in the morning.
May 28th
(Mon.): Depart the Halifax area and drive to Truro, Nova Scotia to
participate in the Permanent Trail PT028. The town is home to Mt. Allison
University with the route passing numerous beautiful old homes and Waterfowl
Park.
Continue our journey to the Cape Breton Island area and the
entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the village of
Cheticamp. Hotel accommodations for 2 nights at Laurie’s Inn (902) 224-2400
Full Breakfast Buffet included.
May 29th
(Tues.): For the next couple of days, with the help of the Cape Breton
Island Hoppers, there will be 4 sanctioned (IVV/CVF) events located on or near
the Cabot Trail.
Today’s walk will start close to our hotel and is at the
Main Entrance of the Highlands National Oark, the Salmon Pools. Explore the
Acadian Village of Cheticamp in the afternoon. (A nice walking trail is
available for your walking pleasure across from the Seaside Whale Watching
Center. Sorry, the tours do not start until after we are gone.)
May 30th
(Wed.) Depart Cheticamp area and enter the National Park with an event on
the beautiful Skyline Trail. Might have some box lunches prepared for this day!
Continue the Drive inside the park on the Cabot Trail where there will be
several great views and photo ops!
Participate in another walk event at White Point. Continue
onto Ingonish Beach for hotel accommodations for one night at the Keltic Lodge
(902) 285-2880. Continental Breakfast included.
May 31st
(Thurs.) Begin our last walk in Ingonish Beach, possibly from Keltic Lodge.
The event
is called the Middle Head/Fresh Water Lake Trails. Continue onto
Sydney, Nova Scotia for hotel accommodations for 2 nights at the Cambridge
Suites, (902) 562- 6500 Breakast Buffet included. (S/F for Sydney walk)
June 1st
(Fri.) Depart our hotel and drive to Louisbourg for Permanent Trail PT243.
(We will be doing a revised walk, starting from the Visitor Center and walking
one way to the Louisbourg Fortress.) Upon arrival we will have a one hour
guided tour
of the Fortress. Depart the area and return to our hotel to do
Sydney Walk, Permanent Trail PT059.
June 2nd
(Sat.) Depart the Sydney area and exit the Cape Breton Island and drive to
Moncton,
New Brunswick for Permanent Trail PT048. The Start/Finish is our
hotel, Crowne Plaza Hotel, (506) 854-6340. Breakfast Buffet included.
Participate in the event at your convenience. The walk takes you through
downtown Moncton and along the Riverfront Trail.
June 3rd
(Sun.) Start our journey back to the USA, with a stop and the Border and
then continue back to our hotel (gain one hour) in Portland, Maine, Holiday Inn
Express, (207) 775- 3900. Continental Breakfast and Free Shuttle Service to the
Portland Airport.
June 4th
(Mon.) FLY DAY ONLY BACK TO OUR HOME DESTINATIONS!
$50.00 will reserve your seat on this great trip!
