April 18th (Tues.): Fly day only to BWI
(Baltimore/Washington Airport.) Hotel Accommodations at the Holiday Inn

that evening at 7:00 p.m. (We will return to this hotel on our
last night together.)
April 19th (Wed.): Drive to Annapolis for 1st Capital Walk of the trip. The
walk is through the historic City of Annapolis, which is also the
capital of Maryland and the home of the U.S. Naval Academy. In the afternoon,
drive to Baltimore for Fort McHenry Walk. Don't miss the short movie at the Visitor's
Center. Everything is on the trail that makes walking in Baltimore special --
history, neighborhoods, the harbor and spectacular water views. Return to hotel.
April 20th (Thurs.): Drive into
Washington DC for Mall Walk. The 7-KM trail leads you
around the Tidal Basin and beside the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials.
(Hopefully the Cherry Blossoms will still be out!) The 11-KM trail is along
city streets and through monument areas with steps. In addition, the 17-KM
trail takes you by the Supreme Court, through Union Station, and by the
National Archives. We will be here most
of the day, so if you want to participate in the Iwo Jima Memorial Walk, you can but not included in tour price.
This walk crosses the Potomac River twice, circle Kennedy Center, visit
Arlington Memorial Cemetery and the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima
Memorial), and explore Theodore Roosevelt Island. You can do all of these on
the 12-KM option for this walk. Return to hotel.
April 21st (Fri.): Depart our hotel and drive to the Rockville, Maryland area for the
Seasonal Kenwood Cherry Blossom Walk.
This walk goes through a beautiful neighborhood with lined streets
of cherry trees. Return to hotel.
April 22nd (Sat.): Drive to Dover,
Delaware for Capital Walk. This walk is stock full of historic buildings
and sites. Delaware is the First State.
There's also a park with a lake, tree-lined streets, a very old cemetery
and the State Legislature and Archive buildings. In the afternoon, drive to New Castle for Walk. Walk goes through the historical section of New
Castle, along a paved greenway, and a paved trail along the Delaware River.
Drive to near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
for 2 night stay at Hampton Inn –

April 23rd (Sun.): Depart our hotel and drive a short distance
to the Philadelphia East and West Walks. The East walk goes
through the historic and waterfront areas of Philadelphia. See where the
Declaration of Independence was signed by patriots of a very new government.
You will pass by the house where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of
Independence as well as Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Betsy Ross
house. Walk along the Delaware River waterfront, and through the Italian
Marketplace. The West walk goes through the historic and cultural areas of
Philadelphia., past the grave of Benjamin Franklin, the Liberty Bell, Independence
Hall (where the Declaration of Independence was signed), City Hall, and
various museums including the steps of the Philadelphia Art
Museum which the movie
"Rocky" made famous. Also included are the five
original open-space parks that were
planned by William Penn in 1682. Return to our hotel.
April 24th (Mon.): Drive to Morrisville, Pennsylvania for New Jersey Capital Walk. Trail starts in Morrisville, then goes across the
Delaware River into the state government complex of Trenton, the capital of New
Jersey. On the Pennsylvania side, the trail goes through the business district,
and scenic residential areas. Summerseat which served as George Washington's
headquarters is also on the walk, and a section along the towpath of the
Delaware Canal State Park. Continue our
journey to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for
one night stay at the Start/Finish, Comfort Inn. (717) 233-1611 Continental Breakfast
included.
April 25th (Tues.): Participate in Capital Walk from our
hotel at your convenience. The trail follows a portion of the Capital
Area Greenbelt, going by the Railroad Station, thru the State Capitol Complex,
by the PA State Museum, and crossing the Susquehanna River to City Island. Continue onto Gettysburg for Battlefield
Walk 1. The 5K trail goes through
portions of the battlefield fought over on the first day and into the west end
of downtown Gettysburg. The 10K also goes onto the campus of Gettysburg College
and the center of the downtown area. Continue to Frederick, Maryland for hotel accommodations for 2 nights at Fairfield Inn & Suites (301) 631-2000 Continental Breakfast
included.
April 26th (Wed.): Drive to Sharpsburg,
Maryland for Antietam Battlefield
Walk. One 6K starts at Visitor Center.
It explores the West Woods and Bloody Lane. You must drive about 2 ½ miles from
the Visitors Center to reach the start point above Burnside Bridge for the
second 6k. This trail follows the First Attack and Snavely Ford trails. Trails
are on paved roads and grass paths. In
the afternoon, drive to Harpers Ferry,
West Virginia for walk. A portion of the walk is along the
Appalachian Trail and The C&O Canal and in Harper's Ferry National Park.
Walk is on dirt paths, sidewalks and has a lot of hills and inclines and
stairs. Return to hotel.
April 27th (Thurs.): Depart our hotel and drive to Charleston, West Virginia for Capital Walk. The Start/Finish is the Hampton Inn, but
we are staying at the Holiday Inn
Express (304) 345-0600 (We should be able to start the walk from our hotel) Continental
Breakfast included. The walk takes you
through the downtown area of Charleston, through the Capital Complex, and along
the river walk beside the Kanawha River.
April 28th (Fri.): Drive to Charlottesville,
Virginia for walk. Trail begins at the Visitors Center in the historic
district and goes through the historic district of Charlottesville and though
the University of Virginia campus.
Continue our journey to Richmond,
Virginia. Hotel Accommodations for 2
nights at the Holiday Inn Express (804)

April 29th (Sat.): Drive a short distance for the Petersburg, Virginia Battlefield Walk. Trail is on natural surfaces completely
within the park. Continue on to Richmond for Capital Walk. 6/10 K
routes include the Capitol Building, Governor's Mansion & Brown's Island.
Pedestrian bridge across the James River provides a panoramic view of the city.
10K includes Virginia War Memorial, Canal walk & goes along top of the
floodwall. Return to hotel.
April 30th (Sun.): Start our journey back to the Baltimore area with a stop in
Fredericksburg, Virginia for
walk. Walk through Historic
Fredericksburg including the battlefield,
along theRappahannock River, and through the University of Mary Washington
campus. Return to our Hotel at the
beginning of the trip, Holiday Inn
